Logistics Manager

This position is responsible for safe, effective and efficient movement of goods in and out of the SafeRack’s manufacturing and distribution sites. The Logistics Manager will oversee operations in a manner that complies with company policy, customer requirements, OSHA, DOT and other applicable regulations. This position leads a team that is accountable for Shipping, Receiving, 3PL Management, and other vendors as business needs dictate.


• Supervises and schedules all Shipping, Receiving and Warehouse staff to ensure safe and efficient operation of all logistical functions in a Lean manufacturing environment
• Oversees logistical operations and procedures to exceed expectations for productivity, daily workflow, product availability and accuracy
• Ensures proper routing, loading and orders for shipment and delivery are managed in accordance with customer instructions
• Recommends purchases of logistical loading and material handling equipment; remains current with new methods of warehousing, packing and shipping
• Develops systems to make sure all equipment is safe and maintained in good working order
• Reviews, monitors and maintains required documents for safety, security and quality processes
• Maintains the security of all shipping and receiving dock areas
• Develops and analyzes reports and develop new policies and procedures that improve operational efficiency; communicates results to management in other operational areas
• Displays professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills when interacting with senior management, sales staff, employees, vendors and customers
• Selects, trains, and supervises logistics team members
• Identifies and recommends technologies to enable best-in-class logistical practices to support continued growth of SafeRack business
• Continually Improves customer experience and operating costs for the business
• Other duties as assigned


• 5 to 7 years Warehouse/Logistics Management experience required
• Demonstrated success in utilizing 3PL services
• Demonstrated continual improvement experience while working in a Lean Manufacturing environment
• Solid understanding of TL, LTL and flatbed shipping procedures and best-in-class methods
• Excellent judgment and decision-making ability
• Working knowledge of loading, packaging and damage control methods for shipping palletized freight across LTL and flatbed methods
• 2+ years’ experience with Enterprise Resources Planning Systems required
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical ability in a fast-paced environment
• Superior organization and communication skills
• Demonstrates integrity and ethical decision making
• Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities
• Team player who works productively with a wide range of people
• Strong leadership, motivation and management skills
• Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience implementing and maintaining safety initiatives
• Working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations
• Demonstrated success in selecting, developing and evaluating employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives
• History of providing effective customer service, informative internal reports, and contingency plans
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, inventory/warehouse management and distribution software
